Tennis is one of the few truly lifetime sports that not only improves the fitness of all ages but also brings a community together. Tennis has been riding a wave of popularity and growth that began during the pandemic and continues today.
The Garden City Tennis Association is a nonprofit organization of tennis players and supporters to grow tennis in the Missoula area and around the state.
The GCTA supports a variety of programs throughout the year that include:
- Public Courts. The GCTA provides assistance to Missoula Parks and Recreation to help maintain public tennis courts in Missoula so that everyone can enjoy the sport of tennis. Many of Missoula’s public courts are reaching the end of their useful lives and replacing them is a tennis community priority. As such, we are dedicating a portion of tournament proceeds to that cause.
- Peak Junior Tennis Scholarships. We provide financial assistance to junior tennis players to receive professional instruction to help them achieve their potential.
- Local Tournaments. GCTA hosts a series of tournaments throughout the year. These include the Western Montana Open and three no-elimination tournaments. The No Elims provide a guaranteed four competitive matches for all levels. “The Western” is the GCTA’s signature event and the largest tournament in the state.
